If you are interested in making your own costume, here are some links to get you started...

Atlantia’s Costume and Clothing Links
This is a good general site even though some of the links are not valid. However, go to the  “Costuming for Beginners”. You will find some great sites listed there, in particular the following site:

Dawn’s Costume Guide
This is a great site to get started making some very basic medieval costumes. Definitely check out Dawn’s Costume Patterns page.

Check these pages by Cynthia Virtue--the first page, Introduction to Garb: A Seminar, is a version of her seminar on basic garb construction; the second, A Practical Worksheet for Tunic Construction, presents a seven-step instruction page for sewing tunics.

Bess' Sewing Closet Unlock'd is a collection of pages that illustrate SCA costumes created by Bess Darnley. Along with photos, you will find links to research that Bess did for some of the costumes.

For more ideas and pictures try these sites....

The Costumer’s Manifesto has a couple of helpful pages:

Costume History at The Costumer's Manifesto
This page has more general links. Unfortunately some of the links (in particular the one to the boys clothes) is no longer valid.

The last site is The Milanese Tailor's Handbook.
The Milanese Tailor's Handbook is a good resource
for late 16th century costumes. The interesting aspect
of this site is that there are a few original patterns
from 1570 or so for you to look at.
Timeline of Costume History
This page has links for various periods in history (from Ancient Egypt to more modern eras). The image to the left came from this page.
